On-Site Safety Courses

One size does not fit all. Our on-site training courses are tailored to meet the specific needs of individual clients. The following are typical examples that may be modified to meet your requirements. We can help you determine how to best meet your laser safety training needs. All courses include hazard analyses for your lasers, free use of EASY HAZTM laser hazard analysis software, and after class support when you need it.

Half-Day Laser Safety Awareness

This course covers all the essentials of laser safety in a condensed format and meets all training requirements of the ANSI Z136.1-2007 American National Standard for Safe Use of Lasers.

Topics include the basics of lasers, laser hazards, laser control measures, and the laser safety program. Your lasers will be used as the basis of examples and discussions during class.

This course is intended for industrial workers using enclosed class 1 laser systems and those who work in laser environments but do not operate lasers under hazardous conditions. We can help you determine if this is the best course for your workers.

One-Day Applied Laser Safety

This course covers all the topics of our public two-day Applied Laser Safety course in a condensed format tailored to your specific needs.

It is appropriate for laser maintenance and service personnel in industrial environments and for all laser users in research environments. In the industrial version we use your laser systems for examples and adjust the pace and level of detail to your particular audience. In the research version we assume a higher level of technical expertise, include a wider range of research examples, and increase the pace and level of detail as appropriate. In all classes we perform hazard analyses for your laser systems and include discussions of hazard conditions and control measures in your workplace.

Two-Day Applied Laser Safety

The topics of this course are the same as the one-day course, but some areas are expanded to meet the specific needs of your laser workers.

This course is essentially our public Applied Laser Safety course tailored to meet your needs. For industrial laser users we can include more information about your laser systems and applications from our Basics of Laser Technology course. For research organizations we can supplement with more information about hazard analysis and selection of proper control measures to provide the necessary training for Deputy Laser Safety Officers. The two-day format allows more time for auditing your laser areas and addressing your specific laser safety issues.

Three-Day Laser Safety Officer

Our Laser Safety Officer course can be conducted at your facility in three days instead of the four days required for the public version. We accomplish this by concentrating on your lasers, applications, and work conditions and by reducing time spent on those areas that are of minimal importance for your specific needs.

Conducting the LSO course at your facility allows us to audit your lasers, hold in-depth discussions of your specific laser safety issues, and help you design a laser safety program to meet your individual needs.

Flexible Training Program Design

We can design a training program to meet the needs of several student groups with the maximum efficiency and minimum cost. For industrial laser users we often conduct a half-day Laser Safety Awareness course in the morning for all personnel working in laser areas. Then in the afternoon, laser maintenance personnel continue with the remainder of the topics for Applied Laser Safety that pertain to their jobs.

We can also provide a one-day Applied Laser Safety course followed by a second day for those with LSO or DLSO responsibilities. These combined training formats reduce the training cost per student and allow all your personnel to share the same basic training experience.

We can also combine training with in-depth audits and consulting services. We will be happy to discuss your training and consulting needs and design a program to meet those needs most efficiently.

If we do your on-site training, we will also use our laser experience to help you solve problems related to laser system and application design and maintenance. This is more likely to be of greater benefit to new laser users and new applications. The extra level of expertise we provide can result in savings that offset the cost of your training.
