Mr. Johnny Jones, M. S. Physics, has thirty-eight years experience in laser technology and technical education. He is a Certified Laser Safety Officer and a member of the ANSI Control Measures Subcommittee. His broad range of practical experience and strong teaching skills make him uniquely qualified to provide exceptional laser safety training. Mr. Jones has a total of twenty-five years experience as a hands-on laser user.

As a researcher at Los Alamos National Laboratory and SRI International he developed many laser systems including KrF lasers for fusion research, lidar for remote chemical detection, Alexandrite lasers for isotope separation, and a variety of military laser systems. He has worked with almost every kind of laser and has a range of real world laser experience that can be matched by few.

Johnny taught laser technology at Texas State Technical College for five years, served as Department Chairman of the Laser Electro-Optics Department, and played a key role in developing the first laser technician training program in the country. He began teaching laser safety in 1973 and has made teaching laser safety his primary activity for the last ten years. He has consistently been very highly rated in student surveys.

He has had extensive experience in applying laser safety in a wide variety of work situations. He had primary laser safety responsibility for numerous research projects including field tests of military lasers and was Division Laser Safety Officer for the largest laser using division at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

For thirty years he has consulted for industrial, research, and educational organizations in developing laser safety programs. Mr. Jones also has extensive experience designing educational systems and instructional materials. He has designed technician training programs and short courses, designed and produced a wide variety of training materials, authored or co-authored several technician training texts, conducted teacher training workshops, and assisted numerous organizations in developing training programs.
